What is happening?!
Starting the day with high ambition — goals to check off and people to see.
Until…
Plans don’t go as envisioned. Too many thoughts begin to spiral around the right and wrong of what I perceive I’m doing, how to be better, and how not to fail. Frustration builds, and suddenly things begin attaching themselves to my growing list of imperfections.
Today, I said aloud:
“Okay…pivoting. I need like 15 mins. Hold on…”
I took a quick 3–5 minute walk, grabbed a cup of tea, and leaned into gratitude by reminding myself how grateful I am for my list because it speaks to who I am and what I’m trying to do. It reminds me that I am alive and trying.
In those moments, I have to use the same tools I encourage others to practice (which hopefully moving forward I’ll call these ANCHORS):
Pause
Accept
Ground myself
Pivot
What are your ANCHORS?
Because reality says there will not always be someone immediately available to help pull me out of a spiral. Sometimes people are busy, unavailable, overwhelmed themselves, or simply unable to show up in the exact way I may need at that moment.
I’m learning to listen to my body, recognize what it needs, and respond with intention instead of criticism.
